Do you mean Richard Smith rather than Jones?
Solomon has been focusing on endurance this winter (also ran a 2.24 indoor 1000m). Well, last year he was in shape way TOO early (ran 1.14 for 600m in March!!), maybe this year (WC year) he plans to be in shape when it counts. However, I hope he doesn't lose his speed because he, like Laura Roelser, is a speed based runner .
That 3:49 shows just how different Solomon is from Symmonds. Very different runners.
True but do you think Symmonds could run 3:49 right now? He seems to be coming back from his injury slowly, also seems to look bigger which isn't good for endurance.
Ah, Symmonds' days are done. He's past his peak, and far too distracted with other ventures. That being said- good for him. Definitely a great run while it lasted. 1:42 and an international medal is a nice pedigree.
I hope this wakes up the idiots who think 'soccer' (it's football people!) players and Michael Johnson could run a sub-4:00 mile...
3:49 isn't bad for someone with his speed and that goes out as hard as he does.
It's just an early season workout.
I'm amazed Solomon isn't an 800 and up oriented runner like Symmonds considering his body type, he's got some pretty severely Kenyan-ee legs. Symmonds on the flip-side has the body type of a power-lifter yet can run 3:34, weird. I guess it's just all about that internal muscle-fibre composition.

True Brit? A true Brit wouldn't put soccer in qoutes. Just the clueless ones who don't know 'football' history. Soccer is a British name not American.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
