The following quote from the new USATF Women's Long Distance Chair, Elizabeth Phillips, is posted on the Lets Run Home Page: "I believe the average runner has no idea what USA Track & Field or Running USA does, who they are, how athletes get to the Olympic Games and all that is needed to get them there. We somehow need to find ways to educate the general public but specifically the daily runner who feels good about his or her sport."
I am a member of USATF only becasue I have to be in order to to be eligible to earn prize money for my team in local grand prix events. Yes, there is some insurance coverage provided and some other benefits for members. I consider myself pretty much in the loop on running related facts but I'd like to know the following from some of you out there that have Olympic or Olympic Trials experience: Just how do ". . . athletes get to the Olympic games. . ." and how does USATF help?
