There was a guy called Antonio Prieto who ran for Spain through the 80's and into the early 90's, he regularly made the top 10 in the world cross, finishing 5th in '83 and even in the top ten in 92 when the race was dminated by africans. Nothing out of the ordinary until you see pictures of this guy... he was seriously short, I'm not talking small, I'm talking very very short, in the pictures of him racing against De Castella, salazar, Cova et all in the 83 World Cross he looks like a little kid, apparently he was 4'11 and I believe it, he was a fantastic runner, i remember him finishing about 5/6 in the world Champs 10k in Tokyo in 91, the guy was built very stockily, I've never seen anybody like him since or frm previous generations, the guy must have been like a clockwork toy but incredibly strong
