Interesting point. I think the difference here, however, is that Lagat became a US citizen on his own initiative. In fact, he actually attained that citizenship a few months prior to the 2004 Olympics in which he competed for Kenya, but it was not known until afterward since Kenya does not allow dual citizenship. But with South Korea, it sounds like it is the South Korean Athletics people who are trying to fast-track Loyanae's citizenship for the sole* purpose of him representing South Korea athletically.
