Looks to me like every race walker in this video at USATF indoor track championships is actually running.

That's like pointing out that a baseball pitch 3 inches off the plate was actually a ball even though it is called a strike 95% of the time.
It has been obvious forever that no competitive race walker actually walks. Why this is even considered a sport is beyond me. We would be better served having crawling races.

Except of course that it isn't. Other than that your argument holds together really well.
Or maybe it's like overturning a play in the NFL after reviewing the replay.

It's like they don't even care. Maybe require 40 lb backpacks.
Walkers should have a chip on their shoe that counts the number of non-walking steps.
Any slo-mo vid of race-walking reveals this. Even at the Olympics when NBC accidentally aired some slo-mo footage of race-walking, it was more than obvious none of them were keeping a foot on the ground at all times. Such a joke of a sport. How did this ever become a sport anyway?
Here's what I mean. Here's vid of 2012 Oly race walking.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PrR4PjDF8M
Go to 28 seconds in.
Play it in slo mo.
Click the settings "gear" in the bottom right corner.
Change the speed to 0.25.
They're airborne.
The camera doesn't lie.
It's really bad at 48 seconds into that video.
and people say running is bad for your knees...

That chick in 3rd is straight up fat. If you want proof that race walking is not a sport, it's the fact that someone who looks like that can be a professional "elite athlete" at a national championship.
Dude, even blind, deaf, African bushmen know that race walkers don't actually keep one foot on the ground. It even says in the rules that they just have to appear to do so with the naked eye. Your slow mo videos are pointless.
I find any competition that requires some form of self-imposed restriction to be really dumb. Its like doing the butterfly in swimming. Its not the fastest way to go, so why do we compete that way? How ridiculous would it be if there was a 100m race in running where all the athletes were forbidden from swinging their arms? Or one where you have to hop on one leg?
Although if they did have those, Bolt would have more medals and fewer people would think that Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time, which is moronic. So thatd be good.

The Loper is right here (not about the African bushmen bit but we can forgive him that ;)).
That takes nothing from the poster that wrote after him. It's a ridiculous sport.
They need to do it with some sort of floor sensors that buzz if both feet are off the ground simultaneously. It is a joke of a "sport" in current form.

Yet making it into a real life game of fast paced "Operation" would make it less ridiculous? Whoops, it buzzed, guess that means you pass me and I'm in second place now
earth shattering
I want those 24 seconds back.
Looks like the judge in the white pants has it covered.
I agree that race walking should be cut from the WC/OG, but remember that the rule is that both feet have to be on the ground FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A JUDGE.
In other words, it is only a rule break if the judge can detect two feet airborne. If he can't detect it, then the walker is within the rules.
So no story here.
But really - kill this thing and bring in xc, please. thanks IAAF.

Like running a sertain distance, but wait, you have to jump hurdles along the way? Or jumping as far as you can, but you must make certain strides before actually jumping? There are several odd events in track and field, not just racewalking.
