Having graduated in May, I imagine that I'll be spending most of my time on the roads from now on.
What kind of training and racing phases do most non-elite postcollegiate runners adopt?
My plan for last few months and next year has been:
Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb - Basebuilding - lots of miles
March, April - Early Quality stuff, some low-key races
May, Jun, July, August - Peak fast training and racing
Sept, Oct - Recovery, non-structured running, time off
I'm not a marathon man, so the fall marathons don't interest me, I'd rather focus on the summertime 8K's, 5K's and shorter.
Does this sound typical, or do others typically try for a peak in early summer and then again in the fall?
Just curious what kind of cycles other people use.
