It was right under 60 degrees, hardly any wind.

Another nice run by Ritz. It looks to me like he's racing into form, and staying healthy. Hopefully this bodes well for a successful spring (on the roads) and summer campaign (on the track).
I saw him at mile 10, where he had a slight lead and looked very strong. He put about 38 seconds on Abdi and 39 on Gotcher in the last 5k. The conditions were excellent for Tampa, wind not a factor for once (it was strong most of the week (much colder, however) but died out yesterday) and if 45-55 would be an ideal temperature, 59-60 is not bad at all for this time of year, when it often is ten or more degrees hotter for this race.
Notice that ever since Nike cut Ritz's contract he has to race? Best thing to ever happen to him.
Agreed. And a nice run for Jennifer Rhines--winning with a 1:12:33...at age 40.
If there is any evidence whatsoever, other than someone simply stating it on this site, that Nike has cut Ritz's contract, please present it . . . otherwise please stick to what you know.

Also seen Ritz after turn around he was just flowing along. I yelled Ritz is Back Baby !!! I know he heard me hopefully he got a laugh out of it.
Came from Buffalo for the race great event and course. No complaints about weather -perfect.
Nailed my time.
Pretty big win over quite a few 2016 trials contenders (abdi, Cabada, and gotcher). Sets him up well for next year.
Congratulations on nailing your time, PTO. Yes, Ritz is back.

Ritz didn't leave Portland because he wanted to. He left because all he does is train and gets injured. His contract was cut. EOS

Well, when you look at the article I link, either Ritz is one heckuva liar or you . . . http://www.mlive.com/sports/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2014/05/olympian_dathan_ritzenhein_mov.html

What I like most about Ritz is that he will always be faster than elfie rupp at 5000.

This is why let's run is ignored by so many. I know for a fact that this is wrong. So when this board slams anyone, I assume that it has as much basis as this.
So you demand evidence of the contrary, yet insist you're correct without presenting any evidence of your own. Do you see how there's a clear disconnect with your position and how you're defending it?
Getting back to the topic of the actual race . . .
This race confirmed what we all strongly suspected after Ritz's XC performances-- that he's in really good shape. Putting 30 seconds into Abdi and Cabada (and a resurgent Brett Gotcher) in the last 5k shows that whatever training he's been able to do during the harsh Michigan winter suits him well. Let's hope he has a good run of health until he goes the line in Hopkinton . . .
Also, nice runs for the (ageless) Rhines and Spence-Gracey (who moved up quite a bit in the second half--smart racing for what I think was her half marathon debut(?)). It'll be interesting to see if either of them has any interest in trying to be a player in LA next February . . .

What makes you think that? Rupp is only 2 seconds off Ritz in the 5000 and last year (7:30 for 3000 indoors and 26:44 for 10000) could arguably be called Rupp's best year ever so he could still be improving.
Maybe someone needs to teach you how to use the internet and how to follow links--for if you knew how, this is what you'd find. Is this clear enough for you!?Dathan Ritzehein Takes On New Challenges, Begins Coaching Career May 9, 2014Beaverton, OR – Dathan Ritzenhein, a three-time Olympian, has accepted an assistant coaching position at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
