Dead last...
Yeah, that was really bad.
They had just mentioned his post-double workout from two weeks ago when he started to crumble....Opps!!
After Rupp bombed to forth a few weeks ago, he got blasted. I suggested that he is probably sick because it was out of character. Turns out he was sick.
Perhaps Levins and Cain caught the same virus/bug as their performances were out of character too. Training on the edge puts you at risk for that.
Nasty cold bug was going around Portland all January. I lost weeks of training. Not surprised it affected pros too.
Been going around up here in Victoria, BC, 2 1/2 weeks of coughing in Jan.

Actually he was 7th. was bumped up to 6th. due to a disqualification 13:30.
Seattle too. I was out two weeks, started up again thinking I was over it, and BAM, another two weeks. Still a little hack in the morning and taking it real easy.

Has Levins had any big results since joining Salazar's group? Maybe running workouts after races wears some athletes down instead of training them for even bigger races.
Odd. He looked great two weeks ago (also at the Armory).
All the NOPers looked flat at Millrose, so I do wonder about the cold virus (or whatever) thing.
Does anyone have any evidence that he ran a workout after the 3:54 mile then 8:15 2 mile 30 mins later?

No idea, but has anyone ever had a really good workout or race JUST prior to getting sick? My coach in college told me that your immune system can boost up when it senses you are fighting something and make you feel really good, but if you weren't able to fight it away you then get nailed with the bug. I had that happen a few times, probably what happened to Levins here....

I doubt that, but when you feel good and run especially hard, there's a bigger drain on your immune system to recover, which is why recovering well is important. Recover well, and you're stronger, but otherwise you become more susceptible, unless and until you recover beyond your previous conditioning.

A bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games?
