After a career year last year Willis ran 3:51.6 in the mile today to break John Walker's National Record by 1.2 seconds. Watch out, this guy is gonna be a serious contender for a gold medal this summer.

Well done, he looked very strong going by Iguider. Heckuva race by Blankenship too.
Great races by both. We pointed out in our recap that the last 2 weeks by Blankenship have been the best 2 races of his life according to all-athletics.com.
Willis has also gotten faster since hitting 30.

really great races. this being said i just want to note with all due respect that running faster at the age of 30 years is not too unusual.
Congrats to the guy. Good to see him still running fast. Peak age for caucasian distance guys tends to be late 20s, and some can PR or run close to their PRs into their mid 30s, so this isn't really surprising. 3:51 indoors is pretty damn fast though and bodes well for the future. He is still as much of medal contender as ever. Glad he earned the national record.
