I don't think I've read an article where the author is contradicting himself more or can't make up his mind. He yo-yo's back and forth between intensity and volume. "Intensity is king... but Junior athletes don't do enough volume when young to progress".
Volume then intensity progressing to a mix of the two. We've just been getting better at balancing the ratio. In any event 2 hard sessions a week is hardly a maximum intensity program. I'm surprised a low impact sport such as skiing isn't more intense.
