I grant that Cheserek would not beat Galen in time trial race (right now), but any championship/regular race he would destroy, yes destroy Galen.
(1) Cheserek dominated Futsum, who apparently is pushing Brian Shrader in workouts, as the FloTrack interview of his teammate states. We can assume Cheserek would have won our 12k road championships. Okay, so would have Galen. (2) Cheserek, last year, is only a fraction of a second slower than Lawi Lalang, who has beaten Galen. (3) The strongest point I want to make is that Cheserek is much better than he was last year, both in terms of fitness and racing tactics. Edward has stated that his training is better - more intense and increased volume - compared to last year. So, we can assume he is stronger than last year and Galen can not touch his kick. I hope that we see a head-to-head post NCAA track season to see Cheserek vs. America's best. Last statement, I think given a TT type 5k track race, Cheserek could dip under 13 minutes for a 5K.
