i'm considering it, but the course is very ugly. they ran a map in the LR paper last week, and it's got a major hill at about mile 24.5 there is also a big hill around mile 13(?). from mile 13 to about mile 22 is pretty flat i think, but the start and the finish could be killers. there's' also a very substantial downhill portion that might wreak havoc on one's quads.
also don't know about prize money. it looks to me like it's somewhat poor in the organization department. also, the 8 hour(!!!!!) time limit seems to suggest that it's not shooting for most competitive status. in my opinion, as an area native - this is a case of little rock's city govt. trying to mark another item off its list of things a "city" has to have - i think the city and the "event", not the sport or the race, are the foucs in this one. apparently the mayor or someone ran country music and thought "gee, wouldn't it be neat if little rock had one of these." i don't think this is the brainchild of people in the "sport" arena of marathoning.
the $65 entry fee seems a bit outrageous for a race that's not offering any supplemental events like concerts, etc. what's that paying for?
post a fax number or contact me through the website below and i'll send you a copy of the map.
