ALAN IS IN THE HOUSE.
Alan,
It is absolutely great that you are posting on letsrun! Awesome way to promote your passion and thank you for many years of once-in-a-lifetime performances! Best of luck in all you do! :)
Good luck Alan, and nice shoes. I would bid if I wasn't a broke runner. ;)
ALAN WEBB!! Alan, you have been a huge inspiration for me for years and it's so cool to see you posting here. Thank you for everything you've done for running and good luck with the triathlons in the future!
Best of luck with your triathlon adventures. You have a great shot at Rio for the 2016 Olympics.

He's Back Baby!
I was doing some cleaning preparing for our family's 6 month stay in Phoenix, AZ and found a new pair of 2007 (pretty good year if you ask me) Air Force 1's that were a bit too small for me. I have set up an auction on eBay to benefit VisionFund (a subsidiary of WorldVision.) This is a great cause as it helps people help themselves. I will sign them with a silver sharpie on the top of the toe box once the auction has ended.
VisionFund's Microfinance program provides the economic engine to enable the world’s poorest communities to turn business ideas and opportunities into successful enterprises. ‘Micro’ refers to the relatively small sums needed to provide start-up capital or funding for growth. Microfinance providers work with communities who don’t have access to mainstream financial services. "Give a man a fish feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish feed him for life."
My father, and inspiration, worked the majority of his career as a senior research economist for Latin American economic development at the World Bank (not too be confused with WorldVision). I have longed to follow in his footsteps as a academic and thoughtful humanitarian. I learned about microfinance by being involved with events for the foundation of Lopez Lomong, my former training partner/current friend, which are run through WorldVision. Lopez's mission to provide clean water to those in need is one of the first steps in providing basic needs. VisionFund and other non-profit microfinance institutions are part of the next step in helping break the cycle of poverty in developing countries.
