Having said that, they are still not a contender for a top 10 spot at Nationals. They beat ranked teams, but not the heavy hitters. Once they get a win over Oregon, NAU, Colorado or Oklhahoma State then you can raise your eyebrows.
SUU is doing amazing this year. Let's remember that only 1 runner (Levins) has broken 14 minutes outdoors (at 5,000m) in the history of the program. So speaking about beating Oregon is not really relevant, since it's an impossibility.
Making it to NCAAs would be a great achievement.
Bringing in Hungarian istvan Szogi, who is still a junior and comes into the program with a 14:11 PR is quite the catch for them.
I hope that Jewkes, Tate, Szogi... keep improving as the season progresses and I would love to see them at NCAAs. I really believe that they have a shot at participating (not beating Oregon... ).
