The Junior National Team is an interesting proposition. Those who have run on it have gained important international experience. On the down side many (if not most) of the high schoolers who ran on the team did not reach their full 2 Mile potential in the May and June of those years. Starting with Eric Hulst all the way through to Ritz, Leal, Moore and Lockhart last year. Nelson ran a good time in April at Arcadia, but wasn't under 9:00 again.
It is a double edged sword. You trade the experience for a less than optimal Mile and 2 Mile as a senior. Which will Solinsky choose? He has already been quoted as saying that he will train for his senior tack season to set records, but try to make the Junior team without training specially for it. He is going to try to do it all. Sounds like he is going to go for a great 3200 at Arcadia. Maybe Arcadia will run 2 Mile.
