I have a question. I've been doing about 70-90 miles a week (basework for track) for the last 7-8 weeks now and have just been going out and running whatever I have felt like I was capable of that day within a range of 10-17 miles.
The question I have is for when doing base work does it matter if you follow the pattern of:
Sun hard Long, Mon Eas, Tue-fri medium pace basework, Sat moderate/easy
Or if you go out and and just run whatever you feel like. If your feeling good go long or if your legs feel heavy just running easy and doing only about 10 miles. What are the benefits to sticking to a plan like that, or just running what you feel like. Also, about what pace should a person do their long run and easy day at if training for a sub 16 5k indoors
I'm looking more for long term development for a year or two, my senior year in college. I usually train upto 110 miles a week, but in the winter seem to cut down on mileage and the pace of my runs for some reason.
I'm looking for a good winter schedule that work to develop aerobically for a decent indoor season and a even better outdoor season.
Thanks for your time/help,
Tim
