Had to start this. A 40 year old Brit, a mother of two children, has just crushed the euro 10000, destroying girls almost half her age. Frankly amazing.

Can someone detail her training program?
Note that Jo Pavey doesn't reference Paula Radcliffe as the greatest ever... me-thinks she knows something...
JP is jealous and PR is clean.
superb run - so pleased for her
I don't want to be negative, but this shows the decline of European distance running. Ingrid Kristiansen ran 2min -two minutes faster in 1986.
Canova?

a lot of people would put geb as the best ever, if it's females radcliffe would absolutely be in the discussion, although tirunesh dibaba, meseret defar and others would get votes, gete wami probably beat radcliffe more head to head, so who can really say?
Did you watch the race? Not run for time... There may well be a decline but to arrive at that conclusion based on that race would be reckless.
Who is that Marerra girl from Portugal(?)... absolutely gorgeous body. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtbvWJdIQYE
Wow, first European Champ gold at the age of 40!! Very few athletes break through so late in their career.
Can you guys think of any?

Jo Pavey has run faster on many occasion and was only beaten by East Africans in the 2012 Olympics. The time only reflects that it was an edgy and tactical race for the first half. I can't believe a supposed poster with running knowledge would think a championship 10,000m time is reflective of he quality.
Of course it was championship race and I know that JP
has run faster on many occasion. I still think runners
today should be able to at least match IK's time from 30yrs
ago (unless one thinks doping was involved at the time).
They are not.

I wish to be known as just Nancy.

This is the problem. In that era, the Russian and East German throwers, jumpers, and sprinters were all systematically doping and their performances are difficult to match today. The Russian middle distance runners were all systematically doping and their performances are difficult to beat today. Why would IK not be doping if she was so dominant in that era?
We don't know whether she was doping. Norway never had a state-sponsored doping program though. Many of the Eastern-block athletes were busted.
Unreal performance, absolutely loved it.
I thought exactly the thread title and wanted to check LR as I thought someone would have posted it.
40 years old and she absolutely crushed the field in the last lap. Legend!
Watch the last couple of laps if you can, properly turning the screw.

African 800m Champs was won in 1:48.
Oh how African middle distance running has declined, they should be doing quicker than that.
