Supposedly it opened last Friday. Is it worth seeing? Video clip here showing one of the coach's "tough-love unorthodox workouts."

Decent movie, but the running parts are mostly not very believable. I would give it about a 6.5/10 overall.

Is it more believable than "Saint Ralph"?
By a longshot.
Watched it on Amazon. It is a little corny but not a complete waste of time.
The best thing this movie has is Richard Jenkins. Outside of that, the acting is average, the writing is poor, and any bits about running are unbelievable.
It's akin to watching The Fast and The Furious, but with no action to support the rest of the movie.
Basically Karate Kid with a less believable ending and time line.
Fairly entertaining and some nice quotes about running though.
I started a thread on this movie a couple of days ago and someone provided a link to stream the movie.

I haven't tried it yet so not sure how well it works.
Have you seen the movie 3:45 mile yet? staring hicham elguerrouj, bernard lagat among others.
Any explosions? I don't watch movies without explosions!

+1 Richard Jenkins. It's not easy for a character actor to make it on to my radar screen, but he has. I'll give any movie a chance that has Richard Jenkins in it. That is how I stumbled across this movie. I agree that the writing is very poor. I can't recommend the movie at all. It is quickly forgetable.
Richard Jenkins was great as the psychiatrist in "There's Something About Mary."

I HATE THAT MOVIE!!!!11
Watched it this weekend with a bunch of running friends. It's a little Corney. The running parts are a little lame if you are a educated runner. They don't stay in their lanes during a 400m Race lol I would say 6/10. Anyway, do you think the 100 x (10-20m)in 15 seconds in water he has him do would actually be a legit workout? Haha
SPOILER ALERT!! He breaks 4 minutes!

Not "officially."
I've often said that we need a "running movie" that's akin to what the movie Sideways was to wine. Yes, the movie is about two friends going to the wine country, and one of them loves good wine, but the movie wasn't ABOUT wine.
The movie was about these characters and what they were going through. We need a movie about runners, but not necessarily about running.

Agree on Richard Jenkins. Always good, surprisingly sympathetic even in bad roles.
Turns out there was a mix-up and it was only for 1600m...converted time to the mile was a 4:00.83...(groans from the audience)
Why, in this day and age, do we still glorify a**hole coaches? I never liked a coaches who were the "do it because I said so" type, and that is what Richard Jenkins (a wonderful actor, I agree) does in this little clip. Plus the "intervals" (?) he has this runner doing are idiotic, and not only because of the risk of injury. Watching this movie is not on my bucket list.
