"I just saw the opportunity to get on stage with Kylie ..."
"and as I'm a 'look at me show pony' I thought why not".
The sad thing is that this publicity stunt will actually benefit her career. I prefer the approach of fellow NB runner Emma Coburn of winning races to get attention.

i don't think she cares what you prefer, she wasn't doing it for you
it was her birthday and she wanted to have fun, and she did
Well at least the two things she has talent in (steeplechase and her looks) have an extremely short shelf life. Her candle will burn out soon.
So what? CG is only a small, minor meet. 2014 is a bye year for major championships.
You know the NSA and CIA are now snooping on GLC's iPhone and Tivo now after Snowden forced the US Govt to cancel Five Eyes spy treaty.
How drunk was she? I heard she is a train wreck waiting to happen.. these are the first signs. I feel poorly for her... she definitely wasn't accepted at Florida for her "show pony" god's gift to earth attitude, but they, she's Aussie, right!
What would you all think if a back-up dancer jumped into a Steeplechase final?
OK, to be honest although I found it funny it was probably a bit daunting for the dancers and Kylie Minogue who wouldn't have known what was happening.
I've been at a concert where two drunk people got on the stage and started grabbing the guitarists and lead singer and there's a long history of incidents towards celebrities.
You only have to think back to the numerous attacks that have been made on celebrities by fans and yeah she's a small blonde girl but still. Imagine if more and more people had gotten on the stage and security hadn't been able to control it. There was NO barrier there.
She shouldn't have done it (and yeah she probably was extremely drunk) but it was kind of funny in a way.
I feel bad for her losing sponsors, left and right. Not like they were lined up, but major red flags to any corporation for a psycho chick. Maybe she thinks she can live life like Johnny Manziel.
You people need to get a life, seriously. It was fun - hopefully KM even saw the humor, upon reflection.
Really shows what kind of dweebs frequent this board - the most boring people in the world. Now I know why Bolt is celebrated as something beyond the normal track person - he actually has fun in his life. Maybe the distance types on this board need to develop a personality - something obviously lacking from the responses so far.

Don't stereotype all distance runners- but you are correct about the dweebs.
I know a lot of distance runners who love to have fun- oh man the things we used to do that would make us delinquents today.
But remember, there is a small group of loser dweebs, sitting at their computers, sometimes posting under multiple names.
You know- the guys who think if you drink alcohol you're a loser. The ones who are very judgmental about women but have never been close enough to a woman to even contemplate something as basic as a kiss.
They would be threatened by a woman with the guts to jump the stage like this in this setting.
It's the closing ceremonies- it's athletes not some dangerous stalker who the police have to escort to the loony bin.
"LaCaze's tilt at celebrity possibly follows her faiure to gain attention on the podium."
Ouch!
If some ugly dude did this he would get crucified. But since it's a hot woman who did it, it's all good!
it's pretty striking how someone who really stands out in looks for a distance runner looks very common on stage with the professionals. at any rate, no harm done and some fun for her.
Classic attention-whore move. She only gets away with it because she is an attractive woman. If it was some regular schlub like you and I up there, nobody would be giving us attention. We would get shuffled off stage and pegged as some nameless "stage invader".
The worst thing you can do with attention seekers like this is actually give them attention. I appreciated that during the World Cup the cameras never focused on the people that invaded the field in their underwear or whatever. Commentators would barely give it a mention.
Don't interrupt people in a performance to draw attention to yourself.

The guy a few posts up called it.
Dweeb alert.
She would have been tazed in the US. She'll probably get a ticking off from her governing association.
She's been spending too much time with Ryan Gregson.
