I like his town, "Parue". I suppose it's better than Schuyler Falls or Wiggletown.
It's Puru,NY not Parue....
Hmm. Not exactly progress, unless the course is really tough.
He probably just ran it as a tempo. Its hard to do hard training runs by yourself.
He's probably doing a lot of strength training for 10Ks and not doing a lot of specific endurance for 5Ks
Same as Molly Huddle.
Elites always travel a few hundred miles to run tempos! He traveled to race. He raced, he got beat by better runners. It's really not that difficult to interpret. As a side not, there appeared to be a bunch of East Africans in that race. More specifically from a marathon running club in Chapel Hill, NC. Any thoughts?
The Debbie Green is always a fast race, but the course is by no means easy. A good portion of the first mile is uphill. What might have slowed Josh is the first mile's pace is always way too fast considering the course. This year, the leader went through in around 4:18 which would be much faster on a flat course.
People really shouldn't be expecting a whole lot more from him. He had his day in the sun. 'Retiring' for five years, one cannot reasonably expect to catch back up to anything like who they once were or who they 'could have been'.
Tell John Campbell that.
I know he has a speaking engagement this coming weekend and went down a week early to run/hangout with friends and family. That being said if I was going to be in town the same weekend as a race and knew I could get paid to do my tempo in the race vs. running it alone, I would. I am sure the money is not bad for his family.

You found what you consider to be an exception. Yay!
And if someone said that one should not expect a 40+ year old to be running 2:06 marathons then an idiot like you would say, "Tell Haile that."
What I said remains true, in spite of your little irrelevant cutesy comment.

Well gosh, if you say it's true then it must be even if it's easy to think of a countering example in a second or two because after all, you said it.
I don't think you understand. It's Peru, NY. P-E-R-U.

Seriously? That's your comeback? Seriously?
I always knew you were one of the lamer posters on here. Only now is it so clear that you are definitely in the running for #1.
It's more of a comeback than you deserve. I have a real life example here and you have noting but...well, nothing. But OK, tell that to Ron Clarke or to Melody Fairchild who is running well again at 40 plus after being away for a long time.
Yes, it's unusual for someone who was national or international class to vanish for an extended time and come back to that level but there are three people who did. All of them were exceptional athletes so maybe we can't assume it will happen for everyone but McDougal was also outstanding.
But that's not what makes your posts lame. (See, anyone can toss around that term.) It's because you have an opinion and seem to think that because you think it's factual ("The unfortunate truth is blah, blah"). It's not. Neither of us know what's going to happen wih McDougal's comeback but you don't seem to understand that.
