He did a good job too today.
Great pacer, barely had a stinker ever.

I am glad he's happy, but I think I'd try to keep that job going as long as possible. Seems like a pretty good gig. I suppose anything gets old after doing it several years though. Motivating yourself to train might be a little tough when you never really race too.
Dude was from a very small town in southern Illinois. Went on to find a unique niche in the sport and rub elbows with the world's greatest. Even has his own Wikipedia page.
Well done, sir.
The guy who could barely run 50flat? He did himself a favor

College debt paid off I hope. Now a chance to use his degree-anyone know his major?
Business major.
He was very good at his trade! Actually he ran mid 45's for the ducks and beyond and went 1:16 indoors maybe in college. Tried the 800 but was just to big.

45.19 to win the Pac 10 400m in 2006.
1:14.41 for 600m, number eight all time.
per wikiped
Why did he never run in open races professionally?
Anyone know his age?
Pretty darn good:
Personal bests:
200m - 20.89 - 5/13/2006
300m - 32.77 - 8/8/2006
400m - 45.19 - 5/14/2006
400m Hurdles - 53.21 - 2003
600m - 1:14.41 - 6/15/2008
800m - 1:46.11 - 6/8/2008
9-time D1 all-American, 3:00 4x4 team and rabbited several national records for various countries as well as Olympic and World Champ qualifiers.
Not a bad journey. Saw the world and ran in a lot of big-time meets.
Bye Matt Thanks

It's probably not good for family life. And he's in his thirties now. $1k-$2k a race is ok but not that great.
Has to be considered one of the greatest pacemakers of all-time. He had one job to do, and he did it well, probably better than anybody else in his era, even Sammy Tangui. I don't think he has anything be ashamed of.
Thank you, Mr. Scherer, and good luck in the future.
Also, with a 45.19 as a collegiate, he could have been a decent pro, but maybe pacing was a better gig for him.

I'm pretty sure he did. He ran for the OTC right out of college when he moved up to the 800. But just wasn't able to get as fast as he needed to be to be competitive.

He could be a domestique...
His size is probably what made him a good pacer.
