I sure won't bet against him. That man is very dangerous at the end of a race.

2013 NCAA Champion
Two School Records
Five-Time All-American
2009 Pan American Junior Champion in the 1,500 meters
2008-9 California state champion in both cross country and at 1,600 meters as a senior.
If he can stay healthy through an Olympic year, sky is the limit. Good kid, great family. His Dad went 8:53 in the 2 mile in HS - 71; 8:38 in the Steeple @ WSU.
He's never going to make it at OTC or any other running program. He's always injured. He's following the path of Andrew Wheating, only Mac has actually been worse. He must be 24-25 by now?

No one in their right mind would. He is, after all, a Jamul Toad.

Agreed , Mac is great collegiate competitor but not the elite that some hope for.
OTC by far the his best choice given his history which will require constant high level rehab. Not sure how his ego will handle being the big man to just one of many elites at OTC.

Let's be real here, the only half decent 1500m guy OTC has currently is McNamara and he's maybe in 3:36 shape right now which is probably also what Fleet is capable of at the moment. OTC's roster has a lots of guys that are real sub-elite types that wouldn't even be good enough to run collegiately (at least with a full ride) at U of O.
If Fleet can stay injury free he'll be the top dog at OTC by this time next year.
Clean career over.

To be clear, specifically, which OTC Elite members are you accusing of using banned substances?

Patrick Casey....? 2nd at USAs and has run 3:35 twice already?
They have a guy that's run faster than 3:36 this season, a guy that ran at least that fast last summer and two oft injured guys that have run faster than 3:35 plus JMac.

By my count 25(!) Americans have broken 3:40 for 1500m this year, but Centro is the only one so far to go under 3:35. Agreed that Fleet has as good a shot as any of those "other guys" at getting to the next level, and if he does, he'll be a big dog at OTC.
p.s. it seems like Leo has been around forever, but he only turns 30 in September. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him make the US team for Rio. Centro looks like a lock unless he's injured. Leaves just one spot for "other" and a lot of pretty good runners wanting it. Could make for a very interesting 1500m at 2016 trials. [or very boring if 2 flat at 700m isn't your cup of tea.]

Yes and they have a slew of non 1500 runners that run sub 3:36 as well.

If he stays healthy, I can see him having a productive pro career, but I am not sure about "sky is the limit". Perhaps I thought that myself 3 years ago, but I am not sure anymore. Mac Fleet and Wheating had 2 years of injuries at the absolute worse time in a miler's career and they may have more injuries as they push towards elite level competition. I can see both of these athletes being consistent 3:35 guys for the next 2 years and perhaps getting a little faster in their late 20s. - I hope to be proven wrong.
Mac Fleet, great name for a Miler! Go Mac!
BBTM bio here:
He also ran 100 miles a week in high school FYI

He is two weeks older than German Fernandez (11/02/1990) and was grade behind in high school.
Imagine if German would have been in the same class. Your talking 3:55 mile, 7:47 3k and 13:25 5k as a high school senior.
I think German would have been high school's distance runner GOAT.
