Unofficial, with the win. 3:56.5, big PR.
Long time coming, but well deserved!!!

I guess that makes him the fastest crossfitter ever
Probably doesn't feel like much of a PR seeing as he once ran 3:35 for 1500
3:38 1500, good for him.

I beg to differ. Rich Froning could easily take him down. His weighted backpack converted mile is at least 3:50
Just 3.5 or so seconds less and he will have equaled his 15 from 2012.
a typo? 4:50?
For a guy that hasn't done much he's had the College 1500m record, has a leg on an indoor AR & a HS Millrose gold.
He's headed in the right direction, but not an eye checking performance by any means.
SHORT!
Is there any value beyond personal pride in being a 3:40/3:58 runner? a 10:30 sprinter? How much does the 14th American on the yearly list take home?
How hard do you want to work for what? if your lucky 20 grand? Plus some trips to exciting places where you see little but your hotel room, the practice track and the shuttle bus.
oh wow you've been to Indianapolis !!
How cool is that!!!
I've always wanted to visit the Medical History Museum at the Central Indiana Hospital for the Insane!!!!!
In response to Trailer Park:
Were you in a position to chase your dream, I would hope that you would pursue it. Why denigrate someone that does this? Why do you care what they make (or don't) for a living? Likely, your talent/abilities on the track are such that you don't know how this feels. As an aside, your grammar, spelling, and sentence structure is absolutely disgusting. I get very sick of people like you around here.

Merber is 3:35/3:56 now. Is that jogger level to you?
Anything less than 3:33/3:50, just hang em up? Is that what you're saying?
What's your PR? Do you like living in mom's basement?
MERBER!! Nice. Great to see. Here's hoping Andrews, Wheating, Merber, et. al. get back to kick'in some arse!

To be fair, it should read Merber "was" 3:35, not is. That was over 2 years ago.
But, this is on the right track, and hopefully this continues. Not exactly an eye-popping performance though, especially after he just missed the finals at USATF's.

A PR is a PR, especially for an active athlete. Two years ago isn't 45 years, last time I checked.
Imagine if the 14th best American in any other sport just stopped trying...
Isn't there a love of the sport buried in competing and training? If I could have prolonged my career 3, 5, 10 years, or whatever and broken even, I gladly would have done that and relished every moment. Good for Merber. I don't happen to believe he's second tier, but the sport will not continue to grow if guys ranked 10-100 in every discipline are simply giving up because they aren't winning Olympic medals.
great post.
regular theme too; 14th best at any position in nfl, nba, nhl, mlb, ......
its the life we choose to lead.
we are runners.
more power to merber.
congrats
Good time ... but who is Kyle Merber? I'm out of the loop.
