A great transformation in the middle of 2013 to take him from 2nd-tier domestic runner to multi-time national champion?
Not a doping question. Who does he train under, and train with? Did he always show this kind of potential and I missed it?

Still second tier.
Cherry picks these weak ass races with no comp.
Get him in a 10,000 on the track. Won't be a pretty site.

Very, very talented athlete but highly injury prone which kind of left him out of the limelight. Ran sub 8:50 for 2 miles in high school. All-American in XC his freshman year of college. Injured a lot from running...sometimes not - he rode his bike into a brick wall in college..... and was out for a season.

was he wearing a helmet? all of the interviews he gives sounds like he took one on the head, hard.
He is a William & Mary grad who was being coached by Gibby in Ann Arbor. I've been wondering if he will follow Gibby to his next destination.

Yeah he went to thomas jefferson high school for science and technology. He is still top 3 all time in virginia high school's 2 mile, after like alan webb and somebody else. So he's talented, but hasn't done anything with it until this year.

Christo runs 28:25 over the rolling hills of heat and humidity soaked Atlanta, and you guys want to claim he's competing against weak competition? With the exception of Rupp, Derrick, Vail, and Quigley, a large number of the guys who ran Track Nationals were at Peachtree. He beat Aaron Braun, who had the 3rd fastest track 10K this year (27:44), tied with Vail's fastest (both of whom finished 3rd and 5th at Track Nationals).

Obviously he's second tier but what does your post say about you? You have to put down a hard working athlete who's been staying healthy and having success. He got on the track and ran a 27:59 last year, he ran a 13:39 pr this year. His 10k at cardinal didn't go great this year but he's obviously in pr'ish shape now. The guy has always had talent and if he stays healthy will throw down some decent prs. He's running in competive races for himself that he can get into. I wouldn't call that cherry picking. He won't get into a 13 flat 5k race or a 27 flat 10k race on the track because he doesn't have the credentials or the ability. He's still put himself out there this year with decent success while also trying to make a living.
Give the guy props.

http://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2014/USATF-Outdoor-Championships/Status-of-Entries.aspxDewpoint was in the 50s and temperatures were in the low 60s, bro. Humidity soaked? I think not. Plenty of guys set PR's on Friday and it was a fast day for running.
And why jump on the track for "free" when you can win $15,000 on the roads?

I'm glad he is out there competing and racing on the circuit. As a fan, I have grown tired of folks in Oregon who only show up for two or three time trials a year.

Unseasonably cool for Atlanta, but he beat guys who ran Track Nationals and had 27:xx Track PBs. He ran a road time that would have placed him 3rd at Track Nationals, whereas the guys who ran Track Nationals were running 30 sec.-1 min. slower than what they ran in Sacramento. The posters saying he's "second tier" and "cherry picking" need to do a little research. Mizuno contracts are crap, and the roads are where the money is at.

"Won't be a pretty site." What, the track race would be held somewhere like Detroit?
They ran USATF's... Landry did not.
High temps in Sacramento June 26-29... 81, 87, 91, 98 (don't know race temp)
Atlanta - Low 60's at race time
The fact is that he didn't race them on the track and they did race him on the roads. Show up and THEN he can prove he's top tier. Until then...
His nickname is "The Count". I am assuming that it is from the Count of Monte Cristo.

It is pathetic how people talk like Landry is actually part of this conversation, as if he's trying to prove he's top tier and has to defend himself.
Landry is a tremendous runner, none of the guys he just beat are top tier either, so not sure what you are even talking about. Being a tier 2 athlete in 2014 in the USA has no shame. It's an age where we have sub 13 guys, and others knocking on the door, and sub/low27 guys. Those are our tier 1 guys. Landry did nothing wrong by showing up, taking a big pay day, and beating a lot of great names in a pretty solid time. He's a name to watch if he can stay healthy. He'll never be a Rupp, but he can be better than he currently is.
not sure how you can say he is cherry picking races. he looks like he has entered and run ALL of the US road championships this year AND won three of them. Just because others are not entering does not mean he is ducking them. I cannot imagine there is better road competition in the US than at Cherry Blossom. He was top American there!
Second teir let's see u run 28:25 then u can talk...fn idiot

This is Mo P.O. Trafeh part II. I shall name him Christ P.O. Landry!

Wunderground shows race time temps/dew point in Sacramento was almost identical to Atlanta, and yet Landry ran what he did over rolling roads, beating guys who ran 30 sec-1min slower in Atlanta. Sorry, but 3 National Championship wins and beating 27:xx track guys is NOT cherry picking, nor is he 2nd tier. Give props where it's due.
