If true, that is major progress for him.
Where was this?

Uh oh! Here he comes!
Pat Casey keeps on rollin'
This is nice progress, hope he stays healthy.
German finished 10th in a 15 man race in a little known meet...we are supposed to be impressed? How many times have we been told, "well it's a start"?
Dude a 3:38 is solid and a lot better than he's been doing.
I just don\'t understand what it is about this message board that gets people so negative. You don\'t have to be a huge fan of every athlete, but certain athletes seem to attract huge amounts of seemingly unwarranted hatred. German, Lukas, Webb, Rupp, Cain, etc. I don\'t get it.
Continues to run the shortest distance he is competitive in
BUT his talent is unquestionable

Seriously? You don't get it?
OK, here is a hint for you. Indeed, it is a hint for you in all of life.
PEOPLE ARE ASSHOLES!
Now do you get it?
3:38 is a huge drop from 3:41.x
he can run 15 and the mile, and you know what 3:38 is solid, he will get to 3:34/35 again, but that is not where almost anyone who understands anything ever thought he would be after 7:47 13:25 6 years ago?
Leer, 4th place today.....again!
Little known meet? Isn't this where a ton of people went to get their A standards for the World Championships last year, a whole bunch of people set PR's, and there was a whole slew of guys under 3:37 and 13:20? This meet has been known very well over the past several years to produce really good marks...

He ran 3:43 about five or six days ago and he drops to 3:38. That is very good.
German keeps saying in his interviews that he is on long term plan. It seems it's starting to work.:)
I agree. he's improving, racing, and (hopefully)healthy.

I really hope that German succeeds in staying healthy for a few years.
It amazes me that he has kept at it this long. I don't think that he has had a long run of solid health since his achilles injury at NCAA XC his freshman year - what, maybe 6 years ago. It is hard to stay motivated for so long with constant setbacks.
Best of luck to Mr. Fernandez.
German is one of these guys and they are rare that run 13:40's
then runs 3:43 and then 3:38.11
amazing gifts, not many like him really
Hope and wish he stays fit

But I thought you couldn't do more than one race within a week?
