Seriously?
While this news, should it prove true, wouldn't entirely surprise me, I am skeptical it's the proper move for Laura.
Everyone knows that Salazar is a strong advocate of speed work, but he's yet to prove himself the best coach out there for the 800m distance--despite Centro's improvements last year in that event. Or, more accurately, he's yet to prove himself with a true 400m/800m runner, as opposed to Cain, Moser, and Centro, who all fall on the 1500m/5km side of the 800m training spectrum. In college, Laura trained primarily with Oregon's sprinters, and speed--true sprinter speed, not 5k or even 1500m runner speed--is where her talent seems primarily to lie, though I am aware of the incredible range she displayed in high school.
I worry, therefore, that Salazar's relatively high volume approach represents a mismatch with Laura's talents that risks running her into the ground; for an 800m runner of this type, more is very often less.
I would be happy to be wrong here, and I could be placing too much weight on what I know about Laura's training while at Oregon, which is surely "hybrid" as much as sprint-heavy. And truth be told, I'm not entirely sure who would be the ideal coach for her at the professional level, since she's such an intriguing mixture of 400m and 800m speed. But my impulse would be to say either Rowland, who's got a strong resume with 800m runners, and *possibly*, as someone else mentioned on another thread, Johnny Gray--though that approach may in fact be too far to the sprint extreme.
Who do other people think would be the best elite coach in this situation?
Regardless of who she signs with, Laura Roesler has already moved to San Antonio to train with Rose Monday. Alberto will not be coaching her.
I hope Coach Monday has learned from her mistakes in coaching Maggie Vessey. The 800 is a very tough event to coach because there so many different ways to train someone for it.
yawn, nobody cares..
just more useless threads by NOP fanboys
Who is Rose Monday?
She is slow!!! Enough
Roesler has stated she wouldn't touch Rowland.
Coach Johnson coaches her now... sprint-coach. Either Johnny Grey or Dan Pfaff.
Why can't she stay in Eugene and continue to work with Johnson?
Can people not see that she is going to be coached by Rose Moday as the previous poster said?
No way she is going to leave her man Centro in Portland while she trains in San Antonio.
Wont Happen, but If I had her ear, the name I'd whisper is GAGS.
None better at the middle distance events.
Knows how to get the most of talent/Kenah/Stahr/Irish/Grace
Wont try to make her a 1500m/higher mileage project
FWIW
Never hear this mentioned, but who coaches Wilson. Maybe she should go there!

Please tell me again why we should care. She is like a 1:47 guy- an also-ran. Sheeesh - she is mediocre runnner. Please no more threads on her til she goes 1:55 or better.
you won't see anyone run 1:55 until they find a way to beat the drug tests again. the times you are seeing now are what women can run clean.

why would he coach up her competition?
Tha fact that this thread is on the front page is absurd. She IS NOT going to NOP.
She IS going to Rose Monday in San Antonio.

For some reason I thought Centro was dating Alex Kosinski? This thread said that they were together and Centro's dad was possibly coaching her:http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5189510

That was a couple of weeks ago. They broke up, Centro went back to the old flame, Roesler. Didn't take him long.

I guess it is not impossibe, but I would be very surprised. AlSal never wanted a large group and a 400/800 type requires more individual attention than a true middle distance or long distance runner. Say what you want about AlSal, but he actually developes his own training plans, supervises all of the workouts and goes to just about every meet his athletes compete in. With that said, I am more 50% sure Alexa will end up with AlSal and that's becasue he's going to lose 1 or 2 female athletes in the next 2 years and he is going to need a training partner for Cain.

This is really sad. Rose never had any success as a coach. Look what happened to Maggie.

This girl is about to sign a 6 figure contract. I wouldn't call that sad.
