Good.
Good, but slow
Good
Other than a couple of memorable scenes like the race around the college courtyard, it's pretty bad.
Great.
However, I have noticed a divide based on age. The youngest of us seem to have a bias against the movie, and for the life of me, I don't know why that is.
Good.
I was 11 when it was made and thought it was great even then. It was one of the things that inspired me to run.
film about "wrong" games
it was about the '24 games not the '20 games where the devastation of the war was still vigorously fresh in the minds of men & what the film's back-drop shouda & wanted to have been
problem was, brits didn't win any sprints in '20...
Great!
Bad. The producers and film crew kept falling asleep as they were filming! Although some scenes are good, there is a 20min edited version out there somewhere. As the Brits would say "cut to the chase, and get on with it mate"
But seriously, it's too much talk, and too little about running. Your better off watching Forrest Gump for godsakes
Good music.

This. You gotta be in the right mood for it. Beautiful visual and sound and quite moving if you're in the right mood.

That edited version sounds good. Or keep your remote handy and speed through all the slow stuff, of which there's plenty.
It is a horrible movie. I have tried several times to watch it and always fall asleep from boredom.
The critics and Academy Award crowd were afraid to rip it apart because they "thought" it was supposed to be some classic film and they didn't want to appear unsophisticated.
Do not even try to watch it, your life will still be complete if you never see it.
My entire memory of the parts that I saw involved slow motion running with boring music.

Boredom is nothing but a lack of attention.
I really, really wanted to like the movie, but I just couldn't. For one thing, the whole "I can't run on Sunday" thing isn't compelling; it's silly. Then there's the fact that it moves glacially slow. I'm not the action movie type. I don't need constant explosions and special effects to hold my attention. But I do prefer that something of interest happen sometime during the movie.
It's a Great movie. Perhaps the best sports movie ever made. But it's also a period piece. So it's slower than what today's generation is used to. Also different values, speech, behavior. But make no mistake, it is a masterpiece.

You have no idea what you're talking about. You should visit Lewis...

Simply stating my opinion. You are welcome to your opinion just as I am welcome to mine. Glad you find that to be a compelling storyline. I do not.
