That's what the girl told me at the local running shop the other day. What ever happened to the Nike Pegasus and Asics 2000-2100 series?

It is the top selling running shoes at specialty running shops. In other channels -- general sporting goods, mall, department stores, etc. -- Nike Free 5.0 is number one.
I would've said Nike Free then Brooks Adrenaline but it probably depends a lot on what is considered 'the same model'.
I ordered some yesterday, so the story seems true to me.
1. Adrenaline
2. 2000s
3. Ghost
Specialty running, anyway
Nike Free? Really? That seems harder to believe than the Brooks Adrenaline.
Pegasus top collegiate team shoe, sure, but definitely Brooks and ASICS among shops.
I think kids, beginners, and "tennis shoe/sneaker" buyers are the big drivers of Nike Free sales. I coach middle school cross country in a small town and it seems like 2/3 of my kids wear them. They go to the nearest big sporting goods store in the next city over and buy them in droves. No specialty running shops around.
Also, Under Armor's model that looks a lot like the free is very popular too.
For what it's worth, I wear Brooks.
The two most recent pairs I bought were Brooks Adrenaline 13 on clearance and I haven't worn brooks for probably 20 years. Asics shot themselves in the foot by cheapening their 2000 series. New Balance did the same thing before that during the transition from the 768 to the 769.
Haha my dad bought a pair of the Adrenaline 13s last year and is looking for another pair right now.
I found some at DSW.
