Fast enough to rank him 18th in the world last year. Pretty awesome for his second try at the event... Will be interesting to see his development over the summer...
Third try....

Great year so far. Tied 60m indoor pr, tied outdoor 110h pr but with 1.0 less wind than his other 13.35, solid indoor PV pr, big indoor SP pr. He's in the zone.
Quack quack quack
Eaton is a great athlete, but this is like running a 4:05 mile.
I'd be more impressed if he broke 1:50 in the 800.

You're an idiot. This is 400 HURDLES... not flat. I bet that 99% of the people on this board never ran the flat 400 that fast. Of course that is true for the 4:05 as well but that isn't a valid comparison in any way.

No need to be a jerk. It's a solid run for him and a good step forward. He's the worlds best decathlete having a bit of fun in an off year while also setting prs in multi events. Nothing to scoff at.

This is what happens when you don't understand any events outside your own. You have absolutely no concept of what equivalent type performances are.
A 49.07 in the 400H is nothing at all like a 4:05 mile. But, since you're likely trolling anyway, you probably knew that.
According to IAAF tables 49.07 400m hurdles is equivalent to a 3:52 mile and a 1:45 800.

Actually its equivalent to about a 3:54 mile or so
49.07 is not even comparable to 4:05. If you're not trolling you may want to never post on letsrun again. This isn't the site for you...
A 49.07 is not that impressive from Eaton, 10.3 speed + good endurance and great hurdling ability.
Most elite 400hurdlers also with 10.3 speed break 48 consistently, 48.5 would be an off day, 49.0 would be a bad day.
Its like a 10.5 100m, or a 4:05 mile. Eaton isn't a great 400 hurdler. He's the greatest decathlete. He's probably just doing the 400 thing for his hurdling and 400 flat and to stay in shape in an off year.
Of course some of you are so stupid too even think 49.07 is a great time...lol were you dropped on your heads as infants?
Is a 46.1 a great time for 400m? Thats a pretty close conversion.
10.5 = 46.1 ~ 1:50 ~ 4:05

You've got to spell check if you want to keep getting bites here. This is like Trolling 101 level stuff, dude.
2nd in a Diamond League meeting in your off-event sucks. Everyone knows this. Why even bother arguing the matter?

No its not. The tables are bogus. The Mile/1500m along with the 100m are the most often run events therefore their depth of performance will be far greater. Comparing the 100m or 1500m to the 400 hurdles with those tables is laughable at best.
Eaton found an event with less depth that he could be in the race with elites of that event in an off year. Good for him he gets some noise with a 49.07.
3:54 mile, ha thats a good one I needed a laugh today.

How many elite hurdlers consistently break 48 period? Don't be stupid.
He's still getting used to the event, he'll run mid 48's soon enough. And this is relevant to Eaton, nobody is arguing this is a world class time.

Agreed, it's much closer to a 3:52 mile.
