Hi there,
Im 6,2 and 170 pounds, in my last marathon ran 02:58:47 in the asics ds trainers and was envisaging making the jump to racing flats. Would it be a good idea? I had some ITB issues last season and was wondering whether that would put me at risk.
If so, any racing flat in particular? I was thinking maybe the asics Hyperspeed or the new Mizuno Hitogami, but mainly beacuse Im used to using those brands. Any thoughts?
Kr and thanks in advance guys,
Luis
DS Trainers are pretty good. They are almost-flats.
Honestly, Flyknits seem to hold up well and are super light. The Hyperspeed if you like Asics. Wouldn't go with anything Saucony for the marathon to be honest... trainers don't seem good for it and their flats are too light. Same for Mizuno, though maybe their Ronin would work.
Most people do go with lightweight trainers for marathons though (e.g., DS Trainer) and so you could just do that if you like.
