Meet your new Olympic champion.
Amman can't hang with a 49-flat opening lap and his kick will only be for silver, behind AMOS.

Amos is a threat, but David Rudisha or some current unknown may be the champion. Too early to know.
Rudisha retired.
results?

These are his best 400 and 800 times by year since 2012:
2012 45.94 (June) 1:41.73 (Aug)
2013 45.66 (March) 1:44.71 (July)
2014 45.56 (April) ???????
He improved his 400 PB last year but it didn't translate. So we really have to wait to see what this latest means for his 800.

That is because he was injured with the quad strain remember.... That's why he didn't run the World Champs
This kid is a wildcard but so long as he's healthy: neither Aman or Rudisha is safe
Is Amos training exclusivly for the 400m now? Anyone know who his coach is?

You're joking, right?
I'm thinking he'll be like Kaki and Aman......win a lot of races in 1:43.5 and the very occasional 1:42 but unless dragged through by Rudisha won't be capable of anything like 1:41 by himself. Rudisha a superstar, let's hope he comes back to his best.
Will Amos' birthdate be adjusted so that he can still compete as a junior? LOL
why didn't he adjust it in '11 when he finished nowhere in the youth 800 ???
good question. it also raises the red doping flag!!
idiot
what on earth doping regime takes you from 1'47 to 1'41 in little more than 1y ???
there have been 100s perhaps into 1000s of guys who have had a 1'47pb at one time
plenty musta started doping at that point from sheer weight of numbers
how come we haven't had dozens of +ve test guys in history going from 1'47 to 1'41 in the next season ???
To go from 1:47 to 1:41 in a single year is extremely suspicious. Made the more so by his subsequent decision to be a DJ and apparent lack of any kind of dedication to training. You don't run 1:41 clean at 18 without total commitment.
It also helps coming from a nation not known for running and one I doubt has any sort of random dope testing. The chances of anyone testing a 1:47 nobody from Botswana are remote. And we know that Gay was doping in London and his tests at the time came up negative. Far too soon to get any clear baseline figures for his biological passport yet. Let's see what Amos is running when he's in his mid 20's, if he's not already there.
If he'd been a European or US runner you'd have cried Foul.
i suggest you get a clue about him before posting nonsense
he didn't take up athletics until '10
so in ~ 1y of semi-serious training, he went from no clockings to 1'47 & 5th in youths
the botswana govt realised he was maybe best talent they had ever produced if he coud go from nothing to 1'47 in 1y as a raw kid, they better nurture this mega-talent
they then sent him in '12 to south africa to train at one of their top camps, with ALL required testing as south africa is the most developed country in the continent, sporting & economics wise
the dj phase is utter nonsense for indicator of doping
he is a young kid who wants a career in music like many kids do
as for tyson, until full details are out of substance/frequency of doping/etc, it is an absurd comparison
as far as we know he maya doped once prior, long time before london, so long before that no testing wouda picked it up & probably no benefit, because if had seriously doped, he wouda run 9.6-flat there, not the rubbish he did
i then ask again :
what on earth drug cocktail can take you from 1'47 to 1'41 in 1y !!!
i want to know from pharmacological aspect for my own academic interest what super-drug can do this !!!
Another reason someone can have a big leap is because they've been injured at the crucial times for a year or two, then they have a good preparation and peak at the right time, when it's good conditions for a PR.
I'm not so sus on his doping, though it is odd that someone who drags his feet can go 1.41. I do query his age though, as with a lot of Africans who run juniors and youths.

why ?
who on earth falsifies age to finsih 5th in an age grade race ?!
if he wanted to age-cheat, he wouda knocked coupla years of his age back then, skipped '11 race & cashed in on next coupla youth/juniors - he'd then be still eligible for next junior champs - ?this year
as for his actual age, ask his training partner zuma
according to him, nijel is still growing & that doesn't happen if his epiphyses have fused by at latest 21y for virtually all humans
I'm just going to copy & paste what I wrote in a previous thread and his age and talent
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5708829&page=1
.
I really wish I could give an explanation but Nijel definitely has a genetic advantage. I remember last year before his one and only Diamond League we joked around about the time we thought he was going to run knowing the training that he did (basically none) and coming back from injury. Well I said he'd be lucky to brake 1:48 and if he did he can be very happy considering the circumstances. He ran 1:44:71. We were all stunned.
Training with a guy like that can fool with your mind, trust me.
Just on another point, Nijel's age. I truly believe it is correct. I've been around Africa (Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Lesotho - basically the whole Southern-Africa) and Botswana is the best governed country by far, way way better than Kenya from what I've heard. Their child registration process is good - not flawless but good. Secondly, Nijel has matured physically since joining us, he has grown taller and more muscular, I doubt that would be the case with a old guy. The last thing, just being around him makes you realize he is very much still a teenager.
