I've been eating a lot of PB lately. I usually put it in my post-run smoothie.
Is it healthy?

So are buttered peanuts healthy?
yes and no. It's healthy because there is a good amount of protein and healthy fat that keeps you full and provides some good calories. However, it does have a decent amount of saturated fat so I wouldn't just live on PB alone. It can be part of a healthy diet if you include your veggies, fruit, and other foods.

You got it backwards, moron. Saturated fat is your friend, raises HDL (good) cholesterol and testosterone. It also keeps you full. Monounsaturated fat is also great for you. However, peanut butter is also high in INFLAMMATORY n-6 Polyunsaturated fat. That is bad news. Therefore I would stay away from them.

Jelly. Duh.

No, moron, you got it backwards. Saturated fat is not your friend. It raises LDL(bad) cholesterol. The raise in HDL does not compensate for this effect. The net effect is negative.
Omega6 fat is healthy. However, it is recommended that eating too much polyunsaturated fat should be avoided because of unknown health effects. There have really not been any large populations eating a very high PUFA diet. On the other hand there is no evidence of harm eather with large amounts of PUFA. Smaller amounts(5-10% of calories) of omega6 have been proven to be healthy.

More inflammation = Tougher workouts.
Tougher workouts = More Ripped and Shredded
Omega 6 FA's are pro-inflammatory. There should be no discussion about that. Omega 3 FA are anti-inflammatory. There also shouldn't be any debate on that either.
Saturated fats can raise LDL, but so what? This isn't necessary a problem.
When looking at whether or not a specific food is good or bad for you, you just can't look at the FA breakdown though. Peanut butter is anti-inflammatory, regardless of whether paleo says so or not. Yes, it has high omega 6, but it is also high in mono's. It also has a low GI keeping it anti-inflammatory. Furthermore, it is a good source of anti-inflammatory magnesium.
Yes, people can be allergic and that can be a problem for some, but not everyone.
The Paleo crowd needs to think outside the box (ha ha, see what I did there?) and realize nutrition isn't so cut and dry.

Its is actually very healthy, a good source of carbs, protein and fats. However, it is also high in calories, so I would not go nuts with it unless you are either very young, high milege or high metabolism type. One table spoon is nearly 100 cals. Make your own or stick to the all natural 100% peanuts, which can be a pain in the butt to eat compared to the more creamy processed types.
For an endurance athletes, a wheat bagel with peanut butter and a bananna is a good way to get your day started. - Take care
organic PNB sure, but all your name brands have hydrogenated oils, so no to most of them
teddie pb - smuckers in the glass is ok - the blue kind in glass out west is ok too, but teddie reigns GOAT PB

n-6 oils (which peanut butter, even the organic ones have plenty) is just as bad.
There is no other way of saying this, morons, but this is the fact:
good fats:
-saturated
-monounsaturated
-n3
bad fats:
-trans fat
-n6

Look at the actual scientific data.
Both are healthy.
Saturated fats can raise LDL, but so what? This isn't necessary a problem.
Yes it is. A big one. LDL should be no more than 70.

This anti-inflammatory stuff(and GI) is not as important. If you keep your LDL under 70 you don't get atherosclerosis.

High LDL is actually the main cause of vascular inflammation. It starts the whole process.

Omega6 is not bad. Saturated fat is.
Omega 6 FA are pro inflammatory, especially when eaten in abundance. Yes, some are essential, but that doesn't mean overall we have a huge health problem due to omega 6 FA in our diets. There is at least on Omega 6 that is anti-inflammatory, but they are generally proinflammatory, especially when the balance of Omega 6 to omega 3 is high. Show me concrete scientific data that refutes that?
You are a total fool if you think inflammation doesn't play a role in atherosclerosis, and you can still eat saturated fats and still have an LDL under 70. I said they weren't necessarily a problem. Half of all heart attacks in this country are in people who have normal cholesterol levels. Also, there are many people in this country and every country that have high cholesterol but don't have heart disease.
Inflammation causes other diseases besides heart disease, so go on thinking that this "anti-inflammatory stuff" is not important. Tool.
