Love the more flexible ones. The superior is a great shoe. I'm also intrigued by the new One-2 that comes out in May
I run in the instinct for my med-long runs i've had them for more than a year and they are just now starting to show wear. You need to tie them up a little tight to keep them on but thats the only complaint i have about them. If you want less cushion try to find the original merrell road gloves best shoe ever.

Love love Altras. Been running for 35+ years & Altras are my favorite.
I run in them and they are great for running up front in the boston marathon even though I'm just a douche who works for altra and have no reason being up front.
I tried the original Altra Instinct. I didn't like it, but I haven't tried the newer versions. It's an odd shoe in that it is definitely not a minimalist shoe, yet it is zero drop.
I couldn't handle the zero drop in this shoe. I'll say this, if you like it, you'll probably love it. It's not like anything else I've run in, except maybe a cross country flat. If you haven't run in them, they're kinda like a cross country racing spike without spikes, with a wider toe box and a bit heavier.
The problem with Altra is that they are so ridiculously wide.
