What a monster! The American record is HIS this summer!
Also what a breakthrough for Sowinski, 1:44 mid. Looks like his success did translate!

Puerto Rico is not a nation.
Your welcome.

Though not technically an independent nation, Puerto Rico does have distinct "national" records separate from the records of the United States.
A great PB for Brandon McBride (down from 1:46.07 in 2012 I believe). I think we have our next NCAA outdoor 800m champion.

And along with Guam and the The US Virgin Islands has it's own Olympic Team.
fantastic start !
only Rudisha/Kip have ever run faster this early in a year
Duane looks to have got helluva lot better than last year !
Your sentence is a classic run-on. Make sure your own trash is watertight before you're critical of others.
Did Solomon lead wire-to-wire?
He led wire to wire I hear, although I haven't seen the video yet unfortunately
I really hope Symmonds looks better outdoors than indoors, though he has been very competitive the last few years. I hope he goes under the American record
But it will SOLOMON who becomes the new record holder, hell he might even have a chance to go sub 1:42
I actually think Brandon Johnson might end up breaking the record too, or at least running under 1:43 this year. Guy is an unbelievable talent.
If Sowinski can find another second I think the US could really give Kenya a run for its money at World Relays...or maybe even flat out beat them
Sowinski has already publicly stated that he passed on his leg for the World Relays. He plans on competing in Beijing or Shanghai (I forgot which one he said), and that he doesn't want to run World Relays as it'll be too much racing.

I was at the meet; he did lead wire to wire. Splits were ~24, ~50, ~1:16 (off memory). I thought he looked really strong.
then that is even more incredible than i thought
the fastest solo 800s i know of are :
- rudy - 1'40.91
- rudy - 1'42.12A
- kip - 1'42.67i
- kip - 1'43.30
- caballo - 1'43.50
( i'm giving him that one, as some runt had the temerity to briefly charge in front of him at the bell, but impeded him more than helped )
- kip - 1'43.96i
- coe - 1'44.06
i'm sure i've missed a few from list - post any others fans know of
( some rudy & kip runs maybe, but even i haven't seen them all ! )
one thing for sure :
duane is in helluva elite company with only 3 guys i know of having run faster solo, & neither coe/cruz cracked 1'44 solo !!!
Solomon ran quicker wire to wire to win the US champs last year and Johnny won the 92 OG trials in 1:42.80 wire to wire - I'm sure there are a few more quicker solo times out there. Nonetheless, still a great run.
What does this Bang, Bang mean?
I've noticed all the time nerds on here using phrases they think are cool which you never hear anywhere else. At least among normal people about the age of 12

Solomon ran his fastest time of the year last year in the US Champs, but that's the problem. He ran close to Aman early, and won Monaco, but after that he was basically done for the year. Ended up 6th in the finals in Moscow, which was a step back from London. There was a bit of a extenuating circumstance: He was trying to front run the semis against a suicidal pace from someone who eneded up DFL in the final.
I just hope they're not attempting to repeat last year's peaking plan.

In this particular case, it is your ignorance of the subject matter that is the problem.
