I'm planning on racing distances from 5k to half marathon over the summer. What road flats would you recommend I buy that would be usable for that range of distance? Thanks

I like racing in the Brooks T7 racers, great shoe, the longest I have used though if for a 10 mile.
I like the Nike Zoom Streak for half-marathons.
Nike Streak LT. Awesome shoe. I use it for all road races of every distance, including 26.2. Works pretty well on trails too, as it started life as a XC flat. (Formerly was called the Streak XC.)
Nike Lunaracer would be one to give a look.
The original Lunaracer+ and the Zoom Streak LT/XC3 are the best shoes Nike has ever made. The Lunaracer is slightly heavier and sturdier but both are great racing shoes. Unfortunately the original and better Lunaracer+ is impossible to find anymore except in weird sizes.
I had the original lunaracer and the current one. The current one has the original midsole but IMO a much better upper. The original upper rubbed the achilles area and fit weird due to the material. The new upper fits the foot better and doesn't feel as heavy.
After 2+ years of searching for the right shoe, I finally landed on the Saucony Type A5. I'm even sponsored by a running shoe store that doesn't sell Saucony, but don't think I'll ever race in anything else.
I always race in Saucony Kinvaras, though they aren't really racing flats.
NB 1600 is a great shoe!
I really like the current Lunaracer and the new NB 1400 v2. Both great shoes, light but still with a bit of cushioning. I use them for road races and speed work, anything up to 15 miles so far.
What's the difference between the NB 1400 and the NB 1600? Is one a marathon flat and the other for races shorter than a marathon?
I love the Nike Streak LT & XC, but be warned they wear oddly if you're a forefoot striker. I got some kind of neuroma from training in them past the recommended mileage -- you lose most padding underneath your landing point past about 500 miles.

Great shoe, only it good for 100k and the holes appear.
