I have several aging pairs of the Nike Race Day short from 2003-2007 (roughly) that are the best thing I've ever worn. I've tried different generations of Nike shorts since and they all feel like poorly fitted plastic bags. The split still seems restrictive. The liners fit awkwardly.
Anyone who remembers and loves these shorts found a suitable alternative? Nike had a 3" pair that seemed promising but is unavailable anywhere except in XL. The originals that I loved were listed at 2.5", I believe. The outer material was soft and perhaps a tad heavier than the current plastic variety, which is a good thing.
These look the closest in terms of cut and dimension:

Anyone try these? Alternatives? (No neon colors or colored piping preferred).
Thank you.
