Another Marathon Cheater?

Makes sense to me. Anyone running 22 for 5K or 1:50 for the half should be able to break 3 for the full. I believe those speed rolls around his neck give him an unfair advantage though.
The article states that only elite runners can compete in the Boston Marathon.
"The Boston Marathon is not a fun run. It is among the best-known and most competitive marathons in the world, challenging runners with rolling hills in the final miles. Only elite athletes can compete in it. To get in the race, runners have to prove themselves a year or so before by completing a marathon within tough time standards pegged to runners' ages and set by the BAA."
Funny
In the modern age it easy just to go to Athlinks and look at the history of their runs. A consistent 22 minute 5K runner is not going to the marathon in 3hours. Also, not with a double chin like the one in the picture.
Assisted at the medical tent after the bombings, too. Finished in "about" 3:03:14. (see video @ 1:30).

The comments under the article are going strong. This guy is doomed as reputable business man. This might turn out worse than Kipster.
He's using the charity shield too.
Are there details about what was questionable about his time? Did he miss timing matts?
The details is for Boston he has no time. Claims he did not wear a chip. For his qualifying marathon he must have cut the course. The best part is he shows a 5K PR of around 21:00 so there is no way he is a 3hour plus marathoner.
These business guys like to use their athletic skills to win over new clients. So what if they have to lie about it. I would never play golf for money with these types.

It would be almost impossible for anyone who runs the 5K in over 18 minutes to break 3 hours in a marathon.
In this day and age I'm amazed that anyone tries to lie about easily verifiable facts. What are people thinking?
Marathon Guide shows 6 results for this guy, with Boston and Towpath 2013 having been removed from the record (according to the article):
--2007 Philly 3:59
--2011 RnR San Diego 3:52
--2011 Towpath 3:12
--2011 Dublin 4:32 (I think this is the same guy, their results show the correct age but say USA instead of his hometown)
--2012 Boston 4:51
--2012 Towpath 3:12
I don't know the Towpath Marathon, but the course map shows it as basically a double out-and-back on a trail. You start by running south, do a 180°, run north past the finish line to another turn around, do another 180°, then run back south to the middle where the finish is. They usually get around 450 runners so it should be possible to write down all the bib numbers at the turn arounds to confirm that everyone did the full course. Especially where Mr. Goodman claism to be runnign for that race, that's the top 25 or so. Very easy to write down bib numbers at that point of the race if you want to verify that everyone is doing the whole course.
I won't make any claims here, I think the record of his results speaks for itself.
I didn't see splits for the Towpath marathon in their results so it would be an easy one to Kip. I run that path a lot and there are several side trails off the main towpath that you could easily just step off the trail and jump back on later.
Impressive how he cheated to the same exact time in the 2011 and 2012 Towpath Marathons. At least this guy has some consistency.
Interesting. Most rich guys win atheltic events by throwing more money down on a bike or something which while unfair, isn't cheating.
As someone pointed out in the comments on the Cleveland article, he does have photos from the 2013 Boston Marathon. No photos before the Citgo sign, however.
Seems to carry a bit more weight than those finishing at the same time.
The Towpath Marathon may be the easiest marathon to cheat on. The entire thing is in the woods, and its a double out and back. There are zero spectators around for long stretches. Just step off in the woods, and join back in when you feel like it. You could probably run a marathon there by only running 5 miles total.
I have no idea what would compel you to do something like that.
If he's going to rip off charities and actually cheat in a road race, imagine who else he's probably cheating in his work world.

YES
He is a 4 hour marathoner.
Team in Training. LOL. Figures. Don't they cheat all the time?
Looks like the most likely explanation is that he's a ~4 hr marathoner pretending to be a ~3 hr marathoner.
Why, oh why? What would be in it for him, either materially or psychologically?
