Suppose you just competed on an IAAF standard 400m track, which has 84.39m straights and turn radius 36.5m.
Now you must do your post-race workout. But there are still events on the track, so your coach says to run around the infield in a rectangular pattern. Using your math skills you calculate the longest possible pattern and proceed to do a series of 4 x 1 rectangle with the last one in 3:44!
Was it a Rupp-certified post-race workout? Assuming no deceleration around the corners, how does it convert to 4 laps of the track?
this can be solved with a minimum of paper, or even none at all. Bonus question if it's too easy.
