I stumbled across your website while I was doing some research on various Asics running shoes today. I am not entirely sure if this is the type of question/issue any of you could help me with but I thought I would try reaching out to the experts anyway!
I am not a runner, by any means, but I prefer to wear Asics running shoes as my everyday shoe because of their fit, support, and comfort. As my subject line suggests, I have a physical disability in the form of a leg-bone disease (Blount's Disease) and a deformed ankle socket (ball-and-socket joint). I am mobile, but the 'off' construction of my leg bones does require that I pay special attention to the type of shoes I wear. I first started wearing Asics almost seven years ago and have stuck primarily to the GT-2000 series since then. At this point, I wear them almost exclusively. I have tried other styles, specifically the GEL-Pulse, but did not experience the same comfort/longevity I got with the GT-2000s. I have recently been considering trying the GEL-Kayanos and this is where my need for advice comes in.
What suggestions, if any, would you have for a person who uses running shoes primarily for walking/everyday use? With the way my ankle construction differs from a 'normal' ankle, imagine walking with your ankles rolled slightly inward all the time, I have primarily gravitated toward shoes that correct overpronation because I walk heavily on my heels and the inside of my feet. This is all based on trial and error and not any medical suggestion, because I am a very underpaid graduate student and unfortunately not able to afford regular appointments with a specialist.
Any advice you could offer would be well received and very much appreciated!
Thank you for your time!
