I'm a 22-year-old male collegiate runner running 80 miles a week. I've used the Brooks Adrenalines for seven years now because I've always pronated slightly, but ever since taking a few months off in 2012 due to a stress fracture in my right foot, they've only lasted me 250-300 miles instead of the usual 500-600 due to extreme wear on the outside of the forefoot, especially on my left foot. It's so bad that not only are the outer forefoot treads completely worn down, the left shoe's insole has a chunk missing where I strike. And I'm tired of spending $100 a month on new shoes.
I've had friends analyze my gait on runs, and I'm a forefoot striker who strikes the ground at the outside of the forefoot, then pronates inwards to push off. I'd think I need stability shoes to correct the pronation, but then my Adrenalines wear out so soon. My wear patterns match a supinator's, and using shoe finders online result in neutral shoes like the Pegasus, which is convenient because I get free Pegasuses from my team's equipment room. Any ideas? Should I try out the Pegasus or just try switching to another stability shoe? Thanks in advance.
