Aregawi wound up running faster than the old WR with her 3:57.91 performance this afternoon. A bit overshadowed by the jaw-dropping 4:11.9-4:04.7 splits from Dibaba's 8:16, but impressive nonetheless.

That was a great run by Aregawi, clearly giving it her all right to the line. Not helped by the second of the rabbits dropping out early. Terrific run. Her Swedish has improved as well.
If Dibaba ran 8:16 for 3,000 then that break's Defar's 3k WR of 8:23 by about 6 or 7 seconds. Is that result for Dibaba accurate?
Oops, I just checked the front page and noticed the Dibaba WR headline. My bad.
a young lady runs 3:57.91 and get's 4 posts and one wonder's what's wrong with the sport?

4+1=5 f'tard
What's wrong is the 3:55 run before her.

One doesn't wonder what's wrong with the sport. One is told several times every day what is wrong with the sport by the curmudgeonly anti-promoters of the sport here at LRC.

Maybe most folks find these interchangeable doping Ethiopians to be boring as shit.
I'm sure her time will be eclipsed by another "20-year-old" African in a year's time anyway.
What...kind of like those interchangeable American chicks we've seen posting fast as times over the last 3-4 years? To a non-america you guys look dodgy as. Just saying....

Great point.
Americans are unable to look in the mirror this way, though.
Everyone but them knows that they have been one of the worst doping countries in track and field, from the 80s to present. Somehow the have the gall to call other countries dopers.
