Hello!
I'm sending my shoe search to the message boards hoping you all can help. I'm coming off a plantar plate tear (toe ligament) injury and I need the following in a road running shoe:
--Lots of cushioning, esp in the forefoot, yet...
--Firm ride. The less "bendy" the shoe, the better. And..
--Wide width sizes available (a close second would be a wide toe box in general)
Here's some more background:
When not injured, I typically run 20-25 mpw, when marathon training I go up to 30-35 mpw. I have custom orthotics which help offset the area to my damaged toe, but extra forefoot cushioning will also help that.
Just before and leading up to my injury, I was amassing quite a collection of shoes. I have tried:
Brooks Ghost 6. Ran marathon in these. Like them, but not available in a wide width.
Brooks Pureflows. Like, but not firm enough.
Ons Cloudsurfer: Again, need a wide width
Saucony Mirage: Not enough cushion in forefoot, and not wide enough.
Any and all recommendations would be most helpful. Thank you!!
