Who?
Who?
Small wonder, he ran on a Japanese road circuit for a year or so.
lol these 10k guys moving up to the thon, where they can dope unrestricted. thons are like bolt running on the beach in rio, or gay running on a straight in manchester--bogus.
let the good times roll, what a field!
This is ridiculous. There aren't many people missing...
Kimetto
Lelisa Desisa
Bekele debut
....and that's about it
This just in... Mo Farah drops out of London Marathon
I hope the people who questioned the integrity of the London marathon organisers by suggesting Farah would be given a weak field to race against are now feeling very stupid.
was bekele looking for too much money then?
it woulda been a nice draw the 2 big-name debutantes although neither would likely win
That is a dynamite field. Do not sleep on Martin Irungu Mathahthi.

No one is expecting Farah to be "given" a weak field. The London Marathon is not going to shoot itself in the foot for one athlete, no matter how big they are. But for myself, I would expect him to try to find a weak field.
Salazar seems to be all about protecting his top athlete's psyches, especially in "off distances," which I don't think is good in the long run. But there is just too much money for Mo in London for him to not run it, period. I personally think that he won't be able to handle the competition- for the simple reason that it seems that no marathoner is a world-beater their first time out, period! But it will be a race to watch, there is no doubt.
holy cow what a field!
Will we witness the first sub-2 hour marathon? 2:01 or 2:02?
What's the fastest-ever marathon as judged by the average time of the top-10 finishers?
Could this challenge for that record?
the more the talk about sub 2 there is the more I think this race will be above 2:04

WTF are you babbling about?
No one talking about sub 2 has a brain. I think 2:04 mid is as good a guess as any.

2:08. They will all be chicken and there will be other excuses like bad weather.

If it's above 2:04 it could still be the fastest London ever, and not necessarily with the best field either.

Will be interesting to see how all of these runners, especially the debutants Farah and Jeilan, find it, especially given the debut of Bekele at Paris the week before. Could it be a rematch of this years World Championships?

Not true my friend.
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/01/6-thoughts-2014-virgin-money-london-marathon-elite-mens-field/We think the field is AMAZING but it only has 2/13 fastest men from 2013 in it. And the top two missing were the World #1 and World #2 in 2013.

That is a clown question. Do you really think that having such a strong group in the top-10 would make them run 3:30 faster than anyone ever has in history?
You do realize that other marathons have rabbits right?
