Read the entire story. They make me sick. Quit having kids and get a job. So sick of deadbeats sponging off of everyone else.

Yeah, it also said she smoked cigarettes, too, which is becoming increasingly expensive.
Say what you want about the mother, these children don't deserve poverty. Unless we help families like these get an education and be well fed, sheltered, and clothed enough until they do, their future families will repeat the process.

The same can be said for the mother. No one asks to be born to two heroin addicts who had 13 other kids. Can you image what life was like for her growing up?
Turning off the food stamp spigot right now won't do any good. It would lead directly to more desperation and, more than likely, higher crime. As crass as it sounds, these monthly payments are essentially buying off those in inner cities: here, go buy some food so you don't rob us.
The biggest issue is the lack of manufacturing jobs in this country. Those jobs are gone, and we're left with a huge part of the population that we don't have any use for.
I don't know how a person could remain unemployable for so long. If you're not working, you should have plenty of time to pursue training and education. Why not just go through a nursing program or get a phlebotomy certificate or something while you've got nothing else to do? At least do some volunteer work that provides valuable experience.

They could have welfare benefits for the first two children and after that all aid stops. You want more kids even though you don't have a job or any money, you have to fend for yourself. People will adapt and not be welfare addicts if such a law passed. Currently there is very little incentive to not be a welfare addict if you are lazy and have no desire to improve yourself.
And no, the poor in the US have it a LOT better than foreigners in third world countries. I know personally. At least in the US you actually have opportunities and racial college cuotas. In other countries you don't have s--t.
My heart goes out to the kids, it really does. But the only way to stop this is to wean them off free money since it really isn't free, somebody is paying.
After reading that, I feel bad for the young kids. They should not be punished for their mother's poor decisions, nor by the absence of their father(s). Six kids with five different men! C'mon lady! Once, hey, it happens. Two, well maybe. But six! Gimme a break.
This law should be introduced: If you smoke, you are not eligible to receive any government hand-outs. If that means you cannot feed your kids, then your kids will be taken away and put into foster homes. In this case, they'll be better off.
Where does she get money for her cigarettes? Shouldn't she be spending that money on food and clothes for her kids? Also, it said she has heart and other health problems.......and she still smokes. Oh well, with free medical care, she will get the help she needs. Also, she is smoking in a small apartment full of kids. Their health will soon be suffering.
In this case the spiral is already out of control.
I'm sure the multiple children is all part of the plan for increasing the monthly allowance.
I like how she almost seems surprised that her son will be eligible for more money as if that didn't already happen with her daughter.
Just walk down to the public library and check out The Pursuit Of Happiness... start there.
That was a dude taking care of the kid.
Let them eat cake

The point of my comment was centered on the theme of "roll up your sleeves and start 'anything' that will begin to improve your life."

Putting them in camps would take jobs away from the general public, it'll have the same outcome as slavery/convict labor moron
I love how she alluded to the times of Martin Luther King and the need for anger. Anger at what? I don't get it. You're a f*ck up; You should be angry at yourself, not society. The sentiment is that government is obligated to provide you with a job and all the stuff you need to have a decent life. That's just not true. You have a roof over your head and you are obese. If this were China or any other non-western country, half your kids would be dead or working in a labor camp and you'd out on the street begging white tourists for money. That's just a fact.
America could actually take back their manufacturing industry by forcing big companies to manufacture at home and offer this type of welfare recipient jobs.
It would be interesting to se if they would actually be willing to work for what they are given.

easier said than done but I agree.
back in the day, any dimwit out of high school could make a good living in a factory eventually working their way up to the point where they could raise a family with stability even if they really were a complete retard. Most of those jobs have disappeared, so the dumb people who used to fill those kind of jobs are now jobless.
It's possible and it definitely sounds good in theory, but there are already a great number of jobs that are essentially created to keep these people off the streets and not committing crimes. I'm a PhD student at an Ivy League school in a "welfare state" kind of a city. The school is essentially the only good thing in the city and without it, the city would easily resemble Detroit. Anyway, one of the things they do here is hire all the local black people at union wages to do all the janitorial work and general labor. I have never seen lazier, more irresponsible people in my life. It's actually a little shocking. I remember it took five young, able bodied men an entire week to mop and wax a 3 meter x 200 meter hallway. They would work at night. They arrived at 5pm, blasted rap music and ate fast food for the first two to three hours and talked on their cell phones. Got to work around 8pm and would just follow each other and alternate between the 5 of them, but most of the time I would just see them on their cell phones or iPads. This is just one example of many.

Wouldn't hurt to have them show up every morning at the highway department to be dispatched to clean up the sides of roads. There are plenty of menial tasks they could perform to contribute to society.
Show up for half your days? You get half your benefits.
Fail weekly drug tests, lose your benefits.
Learn to show up on time and work a full day? Get your full benefits. Of course with these skills, you'd be better off with a real job.
The problem is that sensible things are not politically correct.
