ALEXA EFRAIMSON = BALLERNESS
I bet no one expected Baxter in 3rd, but an amazing race, Alexa blew past them like it was nothing.
She ran her own race, let the gaps accordion, then dropped the proverbial hammer like a pro. Reminded me of what Bekele did to Geb and Farah a few months ago.
They destroyed the race record by 50 seconds and Reavis says "gee, the times weren't fast, but good competition."
Do some research dude.
Guess he just thought it was a flat course at sea level so should be faster. Those rollers and hay bales are significant.
Amazing race, all three delivered the goods.

Did to Geb? Lol get real.

Correcting myself, record by 38 seconds not 50. But same point.

No, he is correct. The times weren't that fast. The difficulty of the course doesn't change that fact dude.
You have to give it Baxter, she gave it everything she had. Alexa's kick was just too much.
The times were slowed by the cold and wind for sure. Alexa seemed to be verbally wrecked on the podium. She has the guts of true champion who digs a little deeper when it counts.

The times were fast. Course record in 20 degree weather. The announcer thought the girls usually ran 5k in 15 minutes, he is clueless.

This! Announcer was completely clueless.
alexa straight smashed in the last quarter. beast mode.
she'll be really good if she keeps her head on straight and stays healthy mind body and spirit. best of luck to her, she seems like a nice kid. i'll be rooting for her, and all three of them really. a great class of runners to battle against each other in the years to come.
a bit like shalane flanagan, lauren fleshman, sara bei, kara goucher years.
good stuff for future american distance running
The course was different this year, so the winning time was going to be a CR no matter what. But yes, blazing.
I think Baxter's low mileage approach finally caught up to her today. The only way she was going to beat Efraimson was to pull away in that 2nd mile like she usually does.
According to a recent interview (can't remember which exactly) Efraimson is a 60MPW runner. Baxter is a 40-45 MPW runner. This a good lesson, it's time for her to step up what she's been doing for 4 years. Her body is clearly ready for an increased work load.
Too much forehead for me, but has a nice smile. In some ways a prettier version of Megan Goethals.
Didn't nxn invite Kenyan kids to run in nxn when it first started. How would have this set of girls competed?
I have to feel bad for Sarah Baxter. It has to hurt to go undefeated for your entire HS career except your last race, then get third.
Nonetheless, what an incredible group of girls. And I'm sure Sarah Baxter will pick herself right up and kick some serious butt in the NCAA. Looking forward to it.

Usually the problem with this sport (track included) in America!
They would have gotten smoked, like always
