Technically he resigned.
Read his apology. He admitted that it was over the top. (I do believe it was a genuine apology and not one of those "if you were offended I apologize" POS).
Many like to rail against Fox News, but I cannot recall employed by Fox News saying something similar to what Bashar said. (Same for CNN too).
And often it seems like the very folks calling for civility are the ones wishing Scott Walker died rather than Paul Walker or uttering disdainful things like Bashar and Baldwin.
PS: the comments about Palin were scripted so a producer should get fired too. It is not like he made them off the cuff.
What a shame that Sarah Palin was unleashed on America. Maybe this guy was wrong but how many people feel that way?

She isn't the deepest thinker but his comments were truly distasteful. I would not wish what he said on anyone. The imagery is disgusting and I have to believe he scripted that comment.

No you havn' t.
Wait, a "man" said vile, disgusting things about a woman, yet same individual keeps trying to claim the Republicans have a "war on women"? The same party that sees to it that half of the future women of America can be aborted just because? The same party that regularly calls conservative women "sluts", "whores" and "hopes they get raped"? Or when it is a black female conservative (Mia Love, Stacey Dash, Condi Rice)they call them an "Aunt Jemima"?

You mean that party? It's the democrat party that feels that way and you are just one of their demonic minions.

If Martin Bashir had referred to Sarah Palin as a pinhead, no one would have noticed. Nice try. Well, actually it wasn't.
I have hated Bashir since before I even knew the difference between liberal and conservative.
Bill O Reilly has a segment on his show called Pinheads and Patriots...he has called many people pinheads, which is a mild reproach on behavior.
I am happy Bashir 'resigned' and I wish that MSNBC would take a look at all of their 'journalists' and have them abide by some guidelines of sorts. Most of them say vile things about the GOP on a regular basis.
It doesn't matter what you think about Palin, what he said was disgusting. I am disgusted that it was almost swept under the rug and that no one on that channel has talked about it. Palin or any other woman has never done anything to deserve such personal attacks.
Good riddance to rubbish.
It would be very unlikely I could ever be made to feel sorry for Palin, a true scourge unleashed on American politics, the woman who made the likes of Christine O'Donnell, Michelle Bachmann, and Sharon Angle - and yes, their male counterparts - too close to the Republican norm.
That having been said, you just can't do what Bashir dd. And I don't see what's so sparkling about the guy to begin with. I'd rather see someone like Steve Kornacki in that time slot.

BAM! well said!
Bashir was spot on until he said the poo in mouth punishment should be applied to Palin. Comparing the national debt to slavery is just shameful and indefensible. The worst outcome for the deficit/debt issue is higher taxes and cuts in government services/benefits. If you want to see an example of what that looks like, go to California. They beat back a huge budget deficit/debt problem with a combination of higher taxes and cuts to government. Yet, California still leads the country in attracting venture capital and has a very high cost of living because everyone wants to live in California. So, Californians are living in slavery?
I would definitely watch that on pay per view, like $50. I can't be the only one and it's likely the last best chance for Sarah Palin to make some real coin. Get it done!
Depends what you mean by "similar". Probably no one has said something quite as disgusting/gross (the imagery), but I would say those on fox have certainly said things as offensive. What Bashar said was, yes, offensive, but almost more juvenile. Compare it to what Beck said:
"Obama is a racist...who has a deep seated hatred for white people." ?!?!
http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=glenn+beck+obama+has+a+deep+seated+hatred&FORM=VIRE5#view=detail&mid=6EC7330C28E54B62035A6EC7330C28E54B62035AThis is 6 mos into the presidency of the first (1/2) black president ever, a man who was raised by a white mother and white grandparents, surrounded by and working for and hiring many a white person, and yet Beck feels its appropriate to make that statement. Talk about "beyond the pale". Now before you brush off that statement, let's compare Bashar's to beck's:
Bashar's: disgusting potty "humor"
Beck's: telling the majority of the country that their president "hates" them and is against them because of their skin color
Bashar's: about a fringe political figure who frankly few care about any more
Beck's: about the leader of the country
Bashar's: isn't saying anything that could potentially result in violence against in Palin, nor against others
Beck's: by hitting on the race note, which we all know is the most potentially explosive note to hit, he is putting seeds of violence in the heads of crazies who would truly consider doing something against Obama or blacks if they believe what Beck is saying.
Beck's was more insane and offensive, but let me guess, you barely even noticed it when it happened, or certainly never expressed outrage over it, correct? Hmmm, I wonder why that it is.......
I guaranF'ntee you that people like "Jeffrey D Boomhauer" cheered Beck's comments and wholeheartedly agrees with him.
This is a silly right wing talking point. No one ever said there isn't a single intolerant liberal person. The difference is: right wing politics in many ways makes intolerance a plank of their platform, and they celebrate/embrace it. And furthermore, many on the left that you or other righties would accuse of "intolerance" are simply being "intolerant" of those who are intolerant of others based on their race, gender, or sexual orientation. Sorry, but there is a difference between those types of intolerance, and you know this. If I decry the KKK and their philosophy am I being intolerant?
Urine idiot wrote:
Show me a ghetto and I'll I show you a city that always votes democrat.
yes, if right wing politics and economics and philosophy had had complete sway of the USA for the last 50 years, and blacks had always been voting republican, there would be no ghettos. Yes, trickle down would have fixed that!
(because of course if you guys had cut all benefits to the poor, eliminated all AA programs, dropped free care in the ER, eliminated unemployment benefits, ended minimum wage, cut taxes on the rich and raised them slightly on the poor {to, you know, give them some "skin in the game}, and arrested anyone who looked suspicious, and had simply given those poor blacks a good pep talk about "being responsible", there'd be no ghettos! man, liberals have really f'd things up, huh?)
(actually, what I say above might be true about "no more ghettos", because under the above right wing scenario most of the poor blacks would either be dead or in jail. Voila, no more ghettos!)
Sarah Palin has accepted his apology, so it was more than likely pressure from businesses that threatened to pull advertising.
Funny stuff though in her interview:
“My role is to accept his apology and be humble enough to accept it and move on. But I just hope that unprovoked attacks like this . . . "
Humble? Unprovoked? Her delusion (or act) has no bounds.

Perhaps. But to quote Sarah Palin, who is not even a relevant player in her own party, shows how msnbc likes to throw red meat to it's hard lefty audience. Bashir got just what he deserved.

once again you flaunt your staggering stupidity for all to see, oblivious...
Are you so stupid that you can't see far worse outcomes than simply higher taxes & spending cuts? Criminy! How do you make it through life? What happens when the markets meltdown, people get nervous & go their bank to make a withdrawal & are unable to do so?
And you hold out CA as an example of how to deal with deficits???????? Everyone wants to live in CA??????????? WTF?
At least your utter stupidity is entertaining!
