Anyone have any experience with scott shoes? Specifically the kinabalu and af trainer? I've heard the kinabalu is a great trail shoe but it's hard to find any reviews on the af trainer

AF trainer is the most cushioned of all the SCOTT shoes. You feel more of the curvature of the rocker shape in this compared to other (lower profile) road models.
T2C EVO is a favorite and is more traditional in fit and feel (for a lightweight marathon /road racing training shoe)....IMO probably the best shoe they've made so far for most people.
The Kinabalu holds it's own on the trails but I will say the toe box is a bit narrow for some people, the laces are too long and come undone and it weighs in at 9.8 ounces. The drop feels less then what is listed (as in all SCOTT shoes). Materials are solid and compete with any of the bigger brands.
I've been running in scott shoes for about two years now and through a connection with a rep have been able to try a wide range of their line up. I've found the AF Support to be my favorite everyday training shoe. Light but like Sage said, the most cushioning and one of the only shoes I'm completely injury free in.
For trail shoes I haven't tried the Kinabalu but found the Grip2 to be a decent shoe that holds up to the end of it's life, but a little on the heavy side.
The brand as a whole is great. Definitely a shoe and company you can trust.
