Clean or doped?
Lance ran a fast one, but was doped to the gills.
You'd have to look it up, but I think Billy Baldwin did one around 3:14. And Sid McGinnis, a guitarist who used to play with Peter Gabriel and has now been on Letterman's show for about 20 years, did a 3:11.

Thanks Sam W. I guess from the list you gave Petraeus is the fastest aside from lance who I would toss out due to doping allegations. Was feeling like there had to be some other males that had to be under three hours though.

I have been looking to add people, especially in areas where you don't see many times.
I think people on this site often think it is easier to run these times than it really is. There is an old Bill Rodgers quote, "no one with a full time job will ever beat me." At least I have seen that attributed to him. Gives you an idea what he may have thought about how easy it is for a non-professional runner to run these fast times.
Every time on the list I verified by a results page and not just through some multi level hearsay in a newspaper article or random posting on a running forum, so I think they are all accurate. I left Dana Carvey off because I can't seem to verify it, but he is alleged to have run a 3:04 marathon.
Clarence Thomas ran a 3:11?!?
Color me flabbergasted.
hands down atsede baysa an ethiopian singer, she has run a 2:22.03 marathon and has won chicago and paris marathon, she has run 26 marathons and is 26 years old. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzaW-ozVCrI
another of her songs.

maybe beyonce will take up running and do as well or better than her.

He wasn't that big until he became a Supreme Court Justice. Also he grew up working on a farm so he probably had a pretty good base of strength and endurance.

atsede baysa puts the other musicians and celebrities to shame,
you got this off the wikipedia list, i have tried numerous times to put atsede baysa on the list and her name always gets taken down. which is not fair as she is a celebrity singer who is very good in her running hobby, the celebrities should be trying to beat her time, maybe nick symmonds can give paris hilton some running tips and she could be the first sub 2:20 celebrity.
Bryan Cranston - 3:20 at 1985 NY marathon.

She WON the Paris Marathon 2x, WON Chicago, WON the Istanbul Marathon...I don't think many people think of running as her "hobby."
When you google her, very little on singing comes up and lots on running. I strongly suspect she makes a lot more money running than she does singing, which to me makes singing her "hobby."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atsede_Baysa2:16:44 / FWIW, much better runner than a politician
