I've been running in the Altra Instinct 1.0 for my long runs and training but they are worn out. They were good, but I figure I need something with more cushion past 20 miles.
I got the NB890V3 and they seem faster with more cushioning. Are these a good choice? They are soon to be replaced with the 890V4, which unfortunately has more toe spring.
I also bought the Nimbus15, but they seem pretty stiff in the middle and kindof clunky (13 ounces at my size) so I might return them without trying them. They do have lots of forefoot padding. They seem to have lots of drop, more than the 9-10mm advertised on RWarehouse.
Does anyone use the Nimbus15 or would a 890V3 be enough cushion? Many of the comments online about the Nimbus are from people who only run 3 miles or wear them to the gym. I tried the Cumulus14 and hated them. The Cumulus14 were like a stability shoe--no flex.
I've also done the minimal shoe thing too and don't like them. I've tried Kinvaras and they did not work for me. I do like lightweight conventional shoes like the Hyperspeeds, which I use for shorter runs.
I want to stick with Asics or NewBalance.
Second pair of 890v3's or alternate with the Nimbus or something else?
