Sounds like brutal pacing to me but she got the win so, who cares? Nobody ever critiques the tactics of collegiate winners, and then win the same stupid tactics don't work on the big stage (RUPP) everyone acts surprised.

I think that these tactics were poor, yes (she was ahead far beyond "good position"), but since she was essentially unopposed the result is good. In XC that's all that matters.
Doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good LOL at 66 opening quarter in a 16:15 race.
And yes the application of less-than-ideal tactics over lesser competition, to achieve a "successful" result, is very comparable to Rupp's NCAA career.
